Title: Call to Action and Blue Print to Increase College Graduation and Keep Our Economy Strong
1. WHEREAS: The Associated Students, Inc. (AS) is the official voice of over 38,000 students at California State University Northridge; AND
2. WHEREAS: AS is the primary advocate for students at CSUN and provides excellent, meaningful programs and services designed to create and enhance a spirited, learning focused campus environment; AND
3. WHEREAS: AS is always trying to get more students involved and increase student participation within the many programs and services we offer; AND
4. WHEREAS: The California Master Plan for Higher Education of 1960 spearheaded internationally competitive industries; AND
5. WHEREAS: Californians standard of living is declining and will continue to decline without improvements in educational attainment; AND
6. WHEREAS: Future economic prosperity is jeopardized if large education disparities by race and ethnicity continue to be ignored; AND
7. WHEREAS: The future of California will lose employers and jobs without urgent attention to increasing attainment of a college credential; THEREFORE LET IT BE
1. RESOLVED: That the Associated Students endorses the Call to Action and Blueprint Plan to increase college graduates and keep our economy strong; AND LET IT BE FURTHER
2. RESOLVED: That the Associated Students calls on the next governor of the great state of California to adopt the Call to Action and Blueprint Plan, and be a tireless advocate for improving California’s ability to deliver results for its people; AND LET IT BE FURTHER
3. RESOLVED: That the Associated Students calls on the next governor of the great state of California to establish a statewide goal to ensure 60 percent of California’s adults have a college credential by 2030; AND LET IT BE FINALLY
