Title: Support to Create a Live Chat Feature for Financial Aid and Scholarships Department


1. WHEREAS: The Associated Students, Inc. (AS) is the official voice of over 38,000 students at California State University Northridge; AND

2. WHEREAS: AS is the primary advocate for students at CSUN and provides excellent, meaningful programs and services designed to create and enhance a spirited, learning focused campus environment; AND

3. WHEREAS: AS is always trying to get more students involved and increase student participation within the many programs and services we offer; AND

4. WHEREAS: The CSUN Financial Aid and Scholarship Department promotes access to higher education by delivering accurate funding to eligible students in a timely manner; AND

5. WHEREAS: The CSUN Financial Aid supports students with empathy and encourages civic responsibility, accountability, and financial well-being from a holistic approach; AND

6. WHEREAS: The CSUN Financial Aid and Scholarships Department communicates with the student by phone and emails; AND

7. WHEREAS: The Federal Student Aid office communicates with students through a live chat feature; AND

8. WHEREAS: The CSUN Library and Information Technology (IT) have live chat features to communication with students; THEREFORE, LET IT BE

1. RESOLVED: AS encourages in the Financial Aid and Scholarship Department to create and implement a live chat feature as another form of communication, AND LET IT BE FURTHER

2. RESOLVED: The CSUN Financial Aid and Scholarship Department will continue to prioritize ways of communication to support students and make resources more accessible to them, AND LET IT BE FURTHER

3. RESOLVED: The CSUN Financial Aid and Scholarships Department will continue to allocate the appropriate resources for all students in a timely manner AND LET IT BE FURTHER

4. RESOLVED: The CSUN Financial Aid and Scholarships Department will provide at least one annual report as a special presentation on the information above to the University Affairs Committee on the current status and improvements made to enhance communication between students seeking help and department staff, AND LET IT BE FURTHER

5. RESOLVED: That copies of this resolution be distributed widely, including but not limited to the following:

  • Dr. William Watkins, Vice President of Student Affairs & Dean of Students
