Title: No to Plastic Bags at Dining Locations on Campus

1. WHEREAS: The Associated Students, Inc. (AS) is the official voice of over 40,000 students at California State University Northridge; AND

2. WHEREAS: AS is the primary advocate for students at CSUN and provides excellent, meaningful programs and services designed to create and enhance a spirited, learning focused campus environment; AND

3. WHEREAS: AS is always trying to get more students involved and increase student participation within the many programs and services we offer; AND

4. WHEREAS: Our campus Subway has made the switch from plastic bags to paper bags when serving their sandwiches; AND

5. WHEREAS: This switch creates a more sustainable form of waste when compared to unrecyclable plastic; AND

6. WHEREAS: El Pollo Loco, Panda Express, and The Campus Bookstore all still use plastic bags for this purpose; AND

7. WHEREAS: If all dining locations on campus switched to paper bags, this would make a consistent change towards the push for sustainability; THEREFORE LET IT BE

1. RESOLVED: We call upon the TUC to implement the use of paper bags at all dining facilities on campus; AND LET IT BE FURTHER

2. RESOLVED: That copies of this resolution be distributed widely, including but not limited to the following:
