Title: Support to Create a Fallen Matador Memorial Event
1. WHEREAS: The Associated Students, Inc. (AS) is the official voice of over 38,000
students at California State University Northridge; AND
2. WHEREAS: AS is the primary advocate for students at CSUN and provides excellent, meaningful programs and services designed to create and enhance a spirited, learning focused campus environment; AND
3. WHEREAS: AS is invested in students involved and increase student participation within many programs and services we offer; AND
4. WHEREAS: CSUN aims to build a strong community and support system; AND
5. WHEREAS: There are many events annually acknowledging faculty and/or staff who have passed away; AND
6. WHEREAS: Currently, there is no official event that recognizes any students who passed away (Fallen Matadors); AND
7. WHEREAS: The CSUN community needs to create an event to honor any fallen Matador; AND
8. WHEREAS: The Fallen Matador Memorial Event will be honored for anyone within the CSUN community (Staff, Faculty, Administrators, Students, Alumni) who are no longer with us; THEREFORE, LET IT BE
1. RESOLVED: AS encourages that the following departments collaborate on this program together: AS Productions, USU Programs and the Alumni Association; AND LET IT BE FURTHER
2. RESOLVED: Associated Students Allocates $1,000 annually to AS Productions to be used for the annual Fallen Matador Memorial event; AND LET IT BE FURTHER
3. RESOLVED: The criteria of this event be as follows: The Tradition of the Rose and highlighting all Fallen Matadors individually; AND LET IT BE FURTHER
4. RESOLVED: Associated Students encourages a website platform to be created where Fallen Matadors can be highlighted by including their name, picture and biography; AND LET IT BE FURTHER
5. RESOLVED: This program be reassessed every two years to determine if more funding is needed; AND LET IT BE FURTHER
6. RESOLVED: That copies of this resolution be distributed widely, including but not limited to the following:
