Title: A.S. Outreach to Local High Schools

1. WHEREAS: The Associated Students, Inc. (A.S.) is the official voice of over 40,000 students at California State University Northridge; and

2. WHEREAS: The Associated Students, Inc. is the primary advocate for students at California State University, Northridge and provides excellent, meaningful programs and services designed to create and enhance a spirited, learning-focused campus environment; and

3. WHEREAS: In accomplishing that mission, A.S. has a responsibility to be a positive influence on the community as a whole and specifically outreach to high school students, to encourage them to attend CSUN and get involved during their collegiate experience; and

4. WHEREAS: It is in the interest of A.S to encourage promising high school student leaders to become involved with CSUN A.S., continue making a difference and contributing to positive changes as student leaders in college; and

5. WHEREAS: Creating high school outreach programs will make students more inclined to attend a higher education institution and see themselves playing a vital role in their future campus community; and therefore let it be

1. RESOLVED: The Associated Students, Inc. Senate will host a High School Student Government Leader Conference for high school students; and let it be further

2. RESOLVED: This program is intended to build a relationship between high school students and our campus, in the hopes that this program will inspire these students to be involved in student leadership and encourage them to become a part of a campus community; and let it be further;

3. RESOLVED: To continue the annual effort of Associated Students, Inc. to raise awareness about A.S. services and programs, this conference will annually take place during the academic year; and let it be further

4. RESOLVED: The day will consist of high school student leaders that will participate in leadership workshops, a tradition of the rose ceremony, and a leadership reception with current senators and cabinet members; and let it be further

5. RESOLVED: The A.S. Chief of Staff, Program Advisor and Coordinator for Student Leadership will ensure that this event takes place annually; and let it be further

6. RESOLVED: These individuals will contact, schedule, and arrange to meet with the respective advisor(s) for each high school; and let it be further

7. RESOLVED: The funding for this event will be coming from the student leadership annual budget yearly; and let it be further

8. RESOLVED: That copies of this resolution be distributed widely, including but not limited to the following:
